What is Importer Security Filing (ISF)?

ISF, short for Importer Security Filing, is a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulation that affects in-bound ocean shipments to the United States. It requires importers to file data electronically with CBP prior to the shipments departure.

  • Ensure the safety of U.S. borders.
  • Avoid potential penalties of $5,000 by filing your ISF on time.
  • An ISF can only be filed by a customs broker 72 hours before the departure of the vessel.

Find a Customs Broker

A customs broker is required to ensure your documents are properly filed and helps you to avoid any potential ISF penalties.

You are responsible for finding your own broker; we cannot recommend one directly.

The U.S. CBP website has a list of customs brokers you can use Here.
