Throughout my two years at Kuehne + Nagel, I have been provided with the training, coaching, and experience to further develop my career within the company and better understand the logistics industry as a whole. A large part of my growth can be attributed to my participation in DRIVE, a year-long development program consisting of small-group lectures, exercises, and projects to help employees maximize their leadership and management skills. Upon completing the program, I felt well prepared to assume a new position with more responsibility and initiative. I would say, overall, the company’s extensive Learning and Development department will definitely help get you where you want to go!
Kuehne + Nagel is innovation in the logistics industry even though it is decades older than competitors. I joined Kuehne + Nagel because I saw opportunities for growth both in the organization and in myself and in the past 8 months I have spent time in 4 different offices, in 6 different departments, and benefitted from coaching and mentoring at every step. This company is effectively and organically growing because it has taken two contradictory ideas (tradition and innovation) and married them in mid-Mediterranean container ships, in the cargo hold of ‘red-eyes’ from LA to Boston, in custom-designed warehouses across the Americas, in , and in small offices filled with people of every age, race, and nationality. They are dedicated to serve wherever they are. Although Kuehne + Nagel is tough to say unless your German or some other kind of Eastern European if you’re not afraid of learning, or being challenged, or being relied on then I would start by sounding out “Kuehne” and then working on “Nagel” later.
I have been an Intern at Kuehne + Nagel NYC for almost a year. I’ve been working in the Ocean Export department taking care of documentation. So far it has been a great experience. I have learned so much in this past year. This company is full of opportunities and gives you the chance to grow. As I have seen with my father which works in the company. K+N is very diverse which is great for me because I get to practice my foreign languages with co-workers every day. Everyone is very professional and always makes me feel welcome. In September I will go back to school and finish my last year, but I will miss this office. I will definitely take everything I learned here and take it forward with me. I am very satisfied for interning here and hopefully opened new doors for the future.
Having an opportunity to work in Kuehne+Nagel has helped me to learn the entire aspect of how this company operates through their training program. It was a very rewarding experience to learn the different processes of how business in handled by ach different department.
Upon successful completion I was have been given the opportunity to demonstrate my full capabilities by working with a challenging account for the Air Import Department. I am very happy.
I was hired by Kuehne + Nagel Charlotte at the very end of August 2013 as a temp, and transitioned into full-time employee April 2014, as a participant in the Operations Trainee Program. Having graduated with a BSBA in International Business, minor in Economics and BA in German, I wanted to work with a company that had a strong global presence. By working for Kuehne + Nagel, I was able to grow and develop in a fast paced environment practicing agile learning, attentiveness and competitiveness. Kuehne+Nagel has helped me grow by helping me not only figure out my strengths, but find my weaknesses and turn them into strengths. Now, at the end of my program I was selected to go abroad, in Germany, to work during summer 2015.
The Operations Trainee Program is one of the Signature North American Development Programs here at Kuehne + Nagel. In this program, you are exposed to different sectors of the business and the different challenges each one faces. Through this program I was mentored by each of my host managers who helped me transition into each new role I faced. What I enjoy the most about the Operations Trainee Program here at Kuehne + Nagel is that I was able to participate in special projects and really learn agile leadership. Most importantly here at Kuehne + Nagel, I’m Hue; not a number. The Development team has supported me every step of the way and drove me to learn and eventually master the multifunction of the organization.
