What type of goods are not transported by Kuehne + Nagel?

Kuehne + Nagel does not transport personal or household goods and automobiles. Please contact your nearest Kuehne + Nagel office for further information.

What details should I provide in order to obtain a price quotation?

Simple shipment details such as place of origin, final destination, weight and volume are required in order to obtain a price quotation.

What is the validity of the offer received?

By booking through our online booking system, KN FreightNet, our offers are, depending on the mode of transport, valid for 14-30 days.

Do you publish any discounts or sales during the year?

We do not regularly publish discounts on our website, however we have periodically certain sales campaigns and promotions which can be visible on our pages.

Do I need to be part of a legal entity to book freight services with Kuehne + Nagel?

What are incoterms?

Incoterms are 11 three-letter standard trade terms commonly used in international contracts that cover such issues as control of goods and financial responsibilities, including payment of cargo insurance and freight. They provide traders with a common set of rules, outlining each party's obligations, thus reducing misunderstandings.

Which dimensions should the pallet have when you want to transport through the groupage network?

Groupage shipments will be shipped on either industrial or euro pallets.

General cargo is suitable for groupage shipments by road but have to adhere to the network cargo standard which is defined as follows:

  • Maximum weight per shipment 2500 kg
  • Maximum weight per unit 1500 kg 
  • Maximum length per unit 2.40 m
  • Maximum height per unit  2.20 m
  • Maximum width 2.40 m

What are the differences between euro and industrial pallets and which are the dimensions?

The difference between euro and industrial pallets is the size. The dimensions are the following:

  • Industry pallet: 120 x 100 x 25 cm
  • Euro pallet: 120 x 80 x 25 cm

How is shipment consolidation organized?

What is the difference between consignment which is stackable and non-stackable?

By stacking goods, a more efficient transport can be achieved. However, not all goods can be stacked like glass and sensible freight. It depends on the weight and the stacking capability.

How can I find out the weight tara of the container if it is not written on it (but is needed for the VGM declaration)?

If the tare weight cannot be found on the container, some shipping lines have the container weight available on their websites.

Do you transport dangerous goods?

Kuehne + Nagel's specialised capabilities include the shipment of certain types of hazardous/dangerous materials. For packaging solutions is our in-house packaging expert company  responsible. What is ADR?

The purpose of the “European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods” (ADR) is to ensure that dangerous goods being carried by road can cross international borders freely, as long as goods, vehicles and drivers comply with its provisions.

A Material Safety Data Sheet is a document that contains information for both workers and emergency personnel on potential hazards like fire, health, reactivity and environmental and how to work safely with a chemical product.


Insurance & Customs

What is the value for which the shipments are insured?

We can guarantee you a compensation up to the full insured value of your goods, regardless of cause or fault of carriers. Detailed information can be found on our global website (English only) and from our insurance brokers in 30 countries.

What is the compensation in case of damage of the package?

In case of damage to the package, the resulting damage will be fully compensated.

Can you handle customs formalities?

Yes. Kuehne + Nagel arranges customs brokerage service for all levels of complexity. Kuehne + Nagel provides all customs services: customs document preparation and delivery, management of the clearance process, import document preparation, obtaining regulatory documents. What documents should I prepare for customs?

By using our booking system the whole custom clearance process will be executed by licensed Kuehne + Nagel employees. You just have to hand all documents to our employees and it will be taken care of the whole process.
